We've exceeded 100!

We had a goal set of 100. It was the minimum that we could sell to count as a fundraiser. If we had not hit the 100 mark, we would have had to pay retail for the shirts we sold and we would have not have made a dime for our charities.

We exceeded our goal and we still have at least 10 days to sell more! I'm hoping for at least 25 more, but of course, even more would be FANTASTIC! I have to thank the girls their extra hard work in helping us get to this point: Amanda Twitty, Cristy Russell, Terri Mangum, and Crystal and Alexis Airington.

Your hard work will pay off toward our ultimate goal of Camp Chuggers and having it free to our campers. This means the world to me and your time, friendship, and dedication are extremely appreciated and I am deeply indebted to you.

We have a close race still going for our top 3 sellers but I want to do something special for each of you. I won't tell you what yet but know I am eternally grateful!

Michelle

 Camp Chuggers Update
We are looking for a location that we can host our Camp Chuggers next summer. Right now, it would be for 5 days, Monday - Friday. The facility needs to have a kitchen, bathrooms, tables & chairs, large area for games/recreation, and air conditioning. We are hoping to have the area donated by someone but if not, we are hoping for a minimum charge. Please let me know if you have any ideas or can help with this need.

Upcoming Walk for Autism Speaks
This year's walk is on October 27, 2012. We have several fundraisers planned to kick off a successful contribution to help raise awareness and sponsor research for a cure.

Introducing Camp Chuggers
We are in the process of designing and developing a summer/day camp in Lancaster SC for autistic children that will kick off in the summer of 2013. We are very excited about our venture and have many ideas that will be put into place. We have several fundraisers planned, including ones that will coincide with the Matthew's Chuggers fundraisers, where the proceeds will be split 50/50.
We currently are seeking volunteers and donors to help us achieve our goal of starting next summer. Here is a list of some of the things we will need:
·         LOCATION
·         Art supplies
·         Games
·         Books
·         Movies
·         Food
·         Sponsors for Horse back riding and Zoo
If you can help with any of these items or can help in any other way, please contact Michelle Huffstickle at (803) 936-2919 or matthewschuggers@gmail.com.
 CDC releases new statistics
In previous years, the statistics for Autism have increased considerably. The previous statistics were that 1 in 110 children would be diagnosed with Autism. The new statistics show that
1 in 88
will be diagnosed with Autism. It is extremely important that research and awareness continues.

Matthew and Austin Huffstickle
Matthew progresses
Matthew continues to show progress and succeeds in his educational journey through Autism. His major accomplishment is in Math. He showed progress in his speech development and is learning to read and write. In the 2012-2013 school year, he will be in the second level of the elementary special education level.

Austin Diagnosed
Earlier this year, Austin was diagnosed with Autism. He is having some of the same struggles that Matthew faced when he was first diagnosed. He is currently receiving speech therapy and occupational therapy and attends a special education preschool program and is showing progress and successes!

Planning Stages 8/11/11

Here at our house, we are getting ready for back to school. Needless to say, nothing was accomplished today for the Jamboree. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to get some things done!
